How it works

What does this incubator journey look like?

YEAR 1: THE STARTER

Every great business begins with the basics. In Year 1, Makers focus on setting a strong foundation, refining menus, managing finances, mastering time, and organizing their operations. It’s all about building confidence and consistency in the kitchen and in business.

YEAR 2: THE SIMMER

With your foundation set, Year 2 turns up the heat. Makers dive into strategic marketing, storytelling, and social media to grow their visibility and reach. You’ll learn to use technology like point-of-sale systems, set sales goals, and understand what it takes to reach profitability.

YEAR 3: THE SIZZLE

This is where everything comes together. In Year 3, Makers step into leadership: delegating, mentoring, and preparing to expand. You’ll build a growth plan, pitch your business, and inspire the next generation of food entrepreneurs.

Ingredients for success

Throughout the journey, Makers develop key skills like creativity, organization, confidence, and strategic thinking. By the end, you’ll not only have a more strategic businessbut you’ll also have the mindset and network to sustain long-term success.

Year 3 also includes opportunities to showcase your business at places like:

  • Fulton Street Farmer’s Market
  • Creston Farmer’s Market
  • Kentwood Farmer’s Market
  • Wine, Beer, and Food Festival
