Kay Hall started the SGR Training Experience with an idea. At the end of the 12 weeks -- she had secured a building, bought equipment and launched her clubhouse.
"Being able to connect with other people with similar feelings helped me catapult through the program because it was a huge support group."
Disha graduated from the SGR training experience in June. She is in the process of launching MogoFuel, a gas delivery service.
"The laws have been changing a lot around doula services, and It's really positive because it shows that doula services are becoming accessible to all women. It puts me in a unique position to be able to speak and utilize specific platforms to have an impact on the state and systems-level with my work."
Kiara Baskin recently met with Mayor Rosalynn Bliss to sign a proclamation to celebrate Doulas week in Grand Rapids.
"As entrepreneurs, we can sometimes lose track of why we started. I like to go back because I want to make sure I'm setting a focused intention on this is why I'm here, and this is what I'm trying to do."
Arick Davis recently graduated from the SGR Training Experience. He's passionate about helping people and small businesses through tech.

Valarie has had a crazy year. She recently launched VSJ Fitness, a personal training business. She also won 1st place in our Pitch Competition.
"You could have twenty things thrown at you at once as a business owner, and then still have a client sitting at your chair. You have to learn to push through whatever you're going through and still perform your services to the best of your ability. I'm just thankful for my clients and my team."
Josephine White recently graduated from the SGR training experience. This month she celebrates her 5th anniversary of Jojo's House of Beauty!

Joshua is the owner of 630 Visions. 630 Visions is a media production company that he started in 2018.

Shannon launched Tough Skin, Soft Heart powered by Shannon Cohen, Inc. in 2015 out of a passion to help empower and equip leaders.
"It's been a blessing and a hustle and a grind and a struggle. Patience and Consistency are key. Anything that's gonna be a big deal is gonna take time, and it's gonna take a great team. I'm giving myself grace, and I can't wait to see Adoraa Co. in its full potential in the next couple of years."
Ariana Waller is the founder of Adoraa Co. and Wallway Technologies. Ariana graduated from the SGR training experience last Spring. A month after she graduated, she was one of the top 10 winners of the Start Garden 100 Ideas Competition.

Asia launched BIZMARK Strategies last fall while she was participating in the SGR Training Experience.

Care talks about the importance of networking as a business owner. Care launched True 2 Size Shoes in 2018. True 2 Size Shoes is an online store that specializes in exclusive footwear for women wearing US shoes sizes 5.5-13.
"You get what you put into it. Owning a business sounds good, but if you really don’t have the discipline to operate your dream, and make money off of it, you should think twice. I’ve also learned that fear cannot control you when it comes to running your business. I was afraid to meet with a lawyer and an accountant because it was unfamiliar territory. However, when I finally decided not to let fear run my life, those individuals ended up helping me immensely!"
Amber started SoulfulMotion in 2015. SoulfulMOTION is a group fitness class that combines gospel, Christian, and inspirational music with all aspects of fitness, to create a unique praise and worship fitness experience.
"If you are truly passionate about your mission and vision -- there should be no excuse for you to quit. You can always work on your business even if it's an hour a day or an hour a week. We started Loop when I was in college and working a job, It was really hard. We were all doing a lot of things but if you believe in it and are ready for it -- the small things won't matter."
